Micro GC Technology Changes Hands

Elster stated that the SLS technology is used for analyzing downstream gas quality as gases from different sources are added. Based on its micro GC technology, SLS Micro Technology’s GCM 5000 GC-Module is a circuit board–based GC, featuring fast heating, short analysis cycles and low power consumption.

Essen, Germany 6/28/11—Elster has acquired the GC assets, including intellectual property, of SLS Micro Technology. Elster offers solutions for electricity, gas and water measurement and control providers. It had 2010 sales of $1.8 billion. “The addition of this innovative gas chromatography technology from SLS further strengthens Elster’s position in the emerging biogas and shale gas markets,” commented Michael Calovini, executive vice president of Elster’s International Gas business. “These sources of gas require precise volume and quality measurement as they are mixed in with more traditional natural gas sources.” Elster stated that it plans to integrate the SLS technology into its gas measurement and quality solutions at its gas quality competence center in Dortmund, Germany. Elster’s gas analysis products include the gaslab Q1 sensor and the EnCal 3000 process GC.
