Aspect Imaging announced in March the conclusion of its three-year partnership with Bruker (see IBO 9/15/12).

The UK’s University of Bath announced in July a license agreement with Sirius Analytical Instruments related to the company’s new Sirius Scissor system, which mimics the stresses of biopharmaceutical experiences when transitioning from formulation conditions to a subcutaneous environment.

Roka Bioscience named Nicholas J. Valeriani, CEO of the Gary and Mary West Health Institute, to its Board.

PathoGenetix announced in September that it has relaunched (see IBO 3/15/15) the Resolution Microbial Genotyping Solution for rapid bacterial serotyping and strain typing.

NanoString Technologies announced a strategic roadmap in September at its investors day. The company disclosed an installed base of over 190 systems for academic research, over 60 system for biopharmaceutical research and over 50 systems for clinical labs.

SCIENION and Axxin announced a collaboration to develop an instrument system for the analysis of multiplexed microarrays on lateral flow immunoassay strips for point-of-care and R&D applications.

Bioreagents provider ProZyme and BiOptic, a provider of capillary gel electrophoresis instruments, agreed to collaborate on the development and commercialization of a system for high-throughput, user friendly glycoanalysis.

Product Introductions

In May, Gyros introduced the Gyrolab CHO-HCP Kit 1 for the detection and quantification of host cell proteins in bioprocessing.

Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the iBind Flex Western System for automated western blot processing, which is based on sequential lateral flow.

Fundamental Solutions launched the PathOne food testing system, a portable diagnostic platform for live detection of foodborne pathogens that utilizes a cell-based biosensor. Results are available in less than five minutes.

In September, IntegenX introduced the RapidHIT ID System for forensic DNA profiles, featuring a small footprint and 90 minute run time.

Bruker released the next generation Albira Si PET/SPECT/CT System, featuring submillimeter spatial resolution across the full radial field of view; the new BioSpec 3T Preclinical MRI System, featuring a new cryogen-free magnet technology that overcomes reliability limitations; the next generation PET/MRI System, featuring the Albira Si PET detector; and the new Xtreme II Optical Molecular Imaging System, with a new CCD camera.

GE Healthcare Life Sciences and NetBio launched the six-color DNAscan 6C Rapid DNA Analysis System and the High DNA Content Flexplex BioChipSet Cassette, which generates STR profiles containing 27 loci.
