Anton Paar Adds to Materials Testing Portfolio

CSM product lines includes indentation testers, scratch testers and tribometers, which are all new product areas for Anton Paar. These products allow Anton Paar to expand its offerings to its existing end-markets. Anton Paar had 2012 revenues of €190 million ($244 million).

Graz, Austria 11/18/13—High precision instrument firm Anton Paar has acquired CSM Instruments for an undisclosed amount. Based in Switzerland, CSM develops, produces and markets laboratory instruments for the characterization of mechanical properties on material surfaces at the micro- and nano-scales. The company generated sales of €12 million ($15 million = €0.78 = $1) in 2012 and has more than 60 employees. “CSM Instruments complements our product portfolio in the field of material characterization of surfaces,” commented Anton Paar CEO Dr. Friedrich Santner. “This market is becoming increasingly important and is a focus in our strategic approach for the coming years.” Dr. Christoph Enger, Business Development manager at Anton Paar, was named general manager of CSM. This is Anton Paar’s 21st subsidiary.
