Advanced Electrophoresis Solutions named Yiping Mu as CEO in March. Most recently, she served as general manager of Greater China Life Sciences at GE Healthcare.

In May, Magnetic Insight entered into a strategic supply agreement with Meito Sangyo to develop and market VivoTrax, a superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticle coated with carboxydextran, as a tracer to support stem cell and immune cell tracking using magnetic particle imaging and MRI.

In June, Sofie Biosciences and PerkinElmer announced a multiyear extension of their existing partnership for PET in vivo imaging tools, including the expansion of technology development and further scaling of manufacturing.

Gyros Protein Technologies named Frank Witney, most recently president and CEO of Affymetrix, as chairman.

Ancera, a developer of single-cell transport technology for microbial risk assessment, announced the securing of $8.9 million in Series A financing, bringing its total raised to $12.3 million. Investors include Packers Sanitation Services and Metabiota. The technology provides real time identification across all points in the food production process. The product launched is scheduled for early 2017.

Product Introductions

Gen9 introduced its next generation BioFab DNA synthesis platform, which is tailored toward scientists who utilize megabase quantities of gene-length synthetic DNA. It is part of the company’s Multiplex Access Partnership program.

Herolab launched the ChemoLum multi-imaging system for chemiluminescence and fluorescence applications, available in two models.

In April, Unchained Labs introduced the UNcle system, which combines dynamic light scattering for protein sizing with label-free fluorescence plus static light scattering for thermal stability measurements. Up to 28 samples can be measured simultaneously.

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the CE-based Applied Biosystems GlycanAssure Glycan Analysis and Quantitation System.

Cubresa introduced the NuPET compact PET scanner, designed for simultaneous preclinical PET and MRI in existing third-party MRI systems.

In June, GE Healthcare Life Sciences launched the eight-needle Biacore 8K label-free SPR system, featuring redesigned hardware and software. It is capable of 60 hours unattended run time.

In July, Syngene introduced the affordable NuGenius gel imaging system for DNA imaging.

PathSensors launched the Universal BioSensor biothreat detection platform, developed in partnership with the University of Maryland School of Medicine. It can use any existing antibody to rapidly develop tests for the presence of pathogens in environmental samples.
