Tosoh to Establish Advanced Technology Base to Expand Specialty Business

Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh will construct and renovate additional research facilities and the Customer Support Center at its Tokyo Research Center in Ayase City, Kanagawa Prefecture, as part of a large-scale renovation. This will strengthen the center’s research and development (R&D) functions and accelerate Tosoh’s expansion of its specialty business and R&D of products and technologies that help resolve social issues. The Tokyo Research Center is home to the Life Science Research Laboratory, Advanced Materials Research Laboratory, and the development arm of the Bioscience Division and will thus become an advanced technology base for Tosoh’s three R&D priorities: life sciences, environment and energy, and electronic materials.

The Tokyo Research Center joins R&D facilities at Tosoh’s Nanyo and Yokkaichi Complexes in being the principal elements of Tosoh’s R&D network and R&D fortification efforts. The company is fortifying its entire R&D structure through aggressive investment and the continuous development of high-value-added products. Promoting R&D themes that support the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals figures prominently in Tosoh’s fortification efforts. Striving for those goals will drive the company’s long-term growth and contribute to a sustainable, prosperous society.
