Dr. Kahen is a global leader in life sciences, with experience spanning scientific innovation, executive leadership and operational excellence across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and applied markets. Most recently, he served as President of Phenomenex, a Danaher company specializing in chromatography consumables and solutions. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles at SCIEX, PerkinElmer, and Advion Interchim Scientific, where he led product innovation, portfolio transformation, commercial growth, and operational improvements.

He holds a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from The George Washington University, where he specialized in the design and development of mass spectrometry platforms. Across his career, Dr. Kahen has contributed significantly to the advancement of analytical instrumentation, holding ten U.S. patents and publishing extensively on topics central to modern laboratory science.

As a leader, Dr. Kahen is known for combining scientific depth with commercial and operational discipline. His stated motivation is building engaged organisations that drive growth through innovation and customer intimacy, reflecting a leadership approach grounded in customer focus, innovation, and high-performing teams.

Kaveh Kahen replaces Markus Lusser who served as Abcam’s President since 2024.
