Paoli, PA 9/28/09—AMETEK has acquired the assets of Mumbai-based Unispec Marketing and Thelsha Technical Services. Unispec represents AMETEK’s Spectro Analytical Instruments business, among others, in India. Spectro supplies ICP-OES instruments, XRF instruments and related supplies. Thelsha Technologies Services, an affiliate of Unispec, provides installation and post-sales service for Spectro instruments. “The acquisition of Unispec Marketing and Thelsha Technical Services provides us with an established sales, distribution and service network with a total of 11 offices across India serving the quality control and analytical instrumentation market,” said AMETEK Chairman and CEO Frank S. Hermance. AMETEK stated that it expects other AMETEK businesses to utilize the companies for distribution and service. Earlier this year, AMETEK established AMETEK Instruments India, which has a facility in Bangalore.
