AMETEK Buys Reichert Technologies

An AMETEK spokesperson told IBO that the acquisition will not impact the Analytical Instruments business, which accounts for about 10% of Reichert’s sales. Reichert’s Analytical Instruments business including refractomers, surface plasmon resonance systems, automotive fluid testers, and clinical and diagnostic systems.

Berwyn, PA 10/17/11; Chicago, IL 10/17/11—AMETEK has acquired Reichert Technology for $150 million from private equity firm Beecken Petty O’Keefe & Company. Based in Depew, New York, with annual sales of $55 million, Reichert Technology is manufacturer of analytical instrument and diagnostic devices for the eye care market. “Reichert Technologies is an excellent acquisition, which expands AMETEK’s business in the medical market. It allows us to enter the highly attractive ophthalmic device market with an industry leader and innovator,” stated Frank S. Hermance, AMETEK chairman and CEO. The company has joined AMETEK’s Electronic Instruments Group.
