AMETEK Purchases Vibration Isolation Systems Maker

Berwyn, PA 1/3/12—AMETEK has acquired Technical Manufacturing (TMC) for an undisclosed amount. TMC’s products include vibration isolation systems and optical test benches that isolate sensitive instruments for the microelectronics, life sciences, photonics and ultra-precision manufacturing industries. “TMC is a great addition to our Electronic Instruments Group (EIG) and an excellent fit with our high-end analytical instruments business, including our Ultra Precision Technologies and Materials Analysis divisions,” stated AMETEK Chairman and CEO Frank S. Hermance. The company will join AMETEK EIG’s Ultra Precision Technologies segment. TMC has estimated yearly sales of $30 million. Utilizing its patented active piezo technology, the company provides piezoelectric vibration cancellation systems to manufacturers in the life sciences, photonics and semiconductor equipment industries.
