Analytik Jena to Acquire Bruker’s ICP-MS Business
ICP-MS spectrometry fits with Analytik’s other atomic-spectroscopy product lines, which include atomic-absorption spectrometers, ICP-OES spectrometers and elemental analyzers. The company now joins Agilent Technologies, PerkinElmer and Thermo Fisher Scientific as a broad-based supplier that offers all three techniques.
Jena, Germany 8/13/14; Jena, Germany 8/14/14—Analytik Jena has agreed to acquire Bruker’s ICP-MS business and assets (see IBO 7/31/14) for an undisclosed amount. The business generated $12 million in revenues in 2013. “With the acquisition of the ICP-MS business from Bruker, we expect to close an important technological gap and will be in position to offer our customers a much broader portfolio of elemental-spectrometry systems. This will move Analytik Jena one step closer to its three major competitors,” stated Analytik CEO Klaus Berka. The majority of employees of Bruker’s ICP-MS business in research, sales and applications, and technical support and service are expected to join Analytik. The anticipated closing date is in September.
