Los Angeles, CA 2/14/17—Anatrace, a provider of detergents and synthetics lipids for membrane protein research, has acquired Molecular Dimensions for an undisclosed amount. UK-based Molecular Dimensions supplies modern screens, reagents, other consumables and instruments for structural biology research. “Most of us may understand that drug discovery is a long and arduous multi-year process, but what is less known is that many of the specific drug targets are proteins. With the addition of Molecular Dimensions, we will be able to offer a more complete portfolio of tools that aid and support drug discovery, disease prevention and cure,” said Anatrace CEO Ben Travis. Molecular Dimensions’ products support research using X-ray crystallography, complementing StoneCalibre/Anatrace’s 2015 purchase of Microlytic, which provides solutions for soluble protein crystallization (see IBO 3/15/15).
