Applied Biosystems Sells LIMS Business
The acquisition makes LabVantage one of the top five providers of LIMS products for research laboratories. Both businesses serve the pharmaceutical, food and forensic end-user markets. The acquisition also gives LabVantage a greater global presence.
Bridgewater, NJ 6/30/09; Carlsbad, CA 6/30/09—LabVantage Solutions, developer of the SAPPHIRE LIMS, has agreed to acquire the SQL*LIMS business from Applied Biosystems, a unit of Life Technologies, for an undisclosed amount. The SQL*LIMS is an enterprise LIMS. LabVantage will continue to support SQL*LIMS product and customers. “While the LIMS business is an important asset for a segment of our customers, it was not a perfect fit with our strategic direction,” stated Mark Stevenson, president and COO of Life Technologies. “With more than 250 dedicated LIMS employees around the world, plus an extensive partner network, LabVantage will be even better equipped to meet the needs of customers seeking to deploy LIMS across their global enterprise,” stated LabVantage President and CEO Jim Aurelio.
