Company Announcements

In December, Analytik Jena announced that as part of its sales partnership with Japanese firm Techno-X, its Japanese subsidiary will offer instruments for X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF). The goal is to achieve sales of €1.5–€2.0 million ($2.0–$2.7 million) in fiscal 2012. Analytik Jena will fully incorporate Techno-X’s sales team into the sales structure of its Japanese subsidiary.

Product Introductions

In August, Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the Thermo Scientific Niton XL2 XRF precious metal analyzer.

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced in September the Thermo Scientific iTEVA Precision software module for the rapid analysis of precious metals and high-concentration elements using the iCAP 6000 Series of inductively coupled plasma (ICP) optical emission spectrometers. The module can perform post-run data reprocessing.

In September, Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the Thermo Scientific iPRO 5000 series analyzer, a total nitrogen and total sulfur analyzer that features a direct injection design providing the capacity to analyze both heavy and light hydrocarbons without changing introduction modules.

Olympus Innov-X introduced in September the next generation of its Gold Xpert line of portable countertop XRF analyzers.

In September, EDAX released the X-ray coating analysis software module for its Orbis micro XRF elemental analyzer system. The module provides simultaneous multi-layer film thickness and composition analyses for metal, oxide, nitride and carbide coatings and coatings that contain elements within the observable range.

PAC released in October the Model 758 Liquid Autosampler for its Antek MultiTek and 9000 Elemental Analyzer instruments. It contains a 110-position tray.

In October, SPECTRO Analytical Instruments introduced the next-generation SPECTRO xSORT handheld energy dispersive XRF spectrometer, featuring an integrated video camera and GPS.

PerkinElmer released in October the new NexION Enhanced Security Software for its NexION 300 ICP-MS system for streamlined regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical industry.

In October, DeWitt Systems introduced the 20-position Automated Sample Changer for Bruker’s Tracer III V+, III SD, IV SD/Geo and S1 Turbo portable XRF systems.

Oxford Instruments launched in November the X-MET7000 handheld XRF analyzer, featuring a new user interface and what it calls “the longest battery life available on the market.”

In December, Bruker introduced the G4 ICARUS version C-HF metals combustion gas analyzer for carbon measurements in metal casting and heat treatment applications. It features a time-saving design for maintenance.
