In August, Rigaku announced the formation of a locally incorporated company in Berlin, Germany.
Product Introductions
Horiba Scientific launched the EMIA-V2 analyzer for simultaneous carbon-sulfur analysis, featuring a redesigned furnace area and “maintenance navigator” software.
Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the Niton XL2 GOLDD Series handheld X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer, which has a 45 kV, 100 µA X-ray tube, and the enhanced Niton XL3t GOLDD+ XRF system, which has a 50 kV, 200 µA X-ray tube.
In August, Thermo Fisher Scientific launched an integrated solution for the metal industry, which optimizes the Thermo Scientific ARL OPTIM’X wavelength dispersive XRF slag analyzer in combination with the Thermo Scientific ARL 3460 Advantage OES metals analyzer.
VELP Scientifica introduced the NDA 701 Dumas nitrogen analyzer, which is completely automated and has a nitrogen detection limit of 0.003 mg.
In August, Shimadzu launched the EDX-LE, an energy dispersive XRF spectrometer, designed specifically for RoHS/ELV–screening inspections. It features an electronic cooling detector that does not require liquid nitrogen.
Agilent released a new version of the ICP-MS MassHunter Workstation for the 7700 Series ICP-MS, which includes a new user interface and ease-of-use features. The company also introduced the affordable Agilent 7700e ICP-MS.
SPECTRO Analytical Instruments introduced the SPECTRO ARCOS 165 ICP-OES spectrometer, which records the elemental spectrum between 165 nm and 770 nm for every measurement and can process up to 80 samples per hour.
Inel launched the benchtop Equinox Air XRD system for crystal structure analysis. It works with standard electrical power and requires no external water cooling or gas connection.
Sales/Orders of Note
In August, Analytik Jena AG won a Chinese order for nine ZEEnit 700 atomic absorption (AA) spectrometers to be used for a project for the quality control of agricultural products under the aegis of the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The company also won an order for 11 contrAA 700 AA systems from the China National Materials Group. In fiscal 2009, the company’s Chinese sales totaled €10.0 million ($14 million).
In September, Agilent shipped its 300th X-ray crystallography SuperNova system, which is manufactured by Oxford Diffraction, to the University of Oxford.
