Australia’s Ministry of Education has announced AUD 522 million ($495 million) in funding for projects sponsored by the Australia Research Council (ARC). The ARC’s Discovery Projects scheme received the highest amount of funding: AUD 257.6 million for 703 basic and applied research projects. The Future Fellowship scheme, which funds research of critical national importance, will receive AUD 152 million for 201 projects. The Discovery Early Career Research Award scheme will receive AUD 75.7 million for 200 projects. The Discovery Indigenous scheme will receive AUD 4.8 million for research programs lead by indigenous Australian researchers. Finally, a total of AUD 32 million will be used for 63 projects under the Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities scheme. These recipients will collaborate with 84 organizations and industry partners worldwide, which are expected to contribute a total of AUD 64 million in cash and other resources to the projects.
