BGI Completes Acquisition of Complete Genomics

BGI-Shenzhen announced plans to acquire Complete Genomics in September 2012. Illumina offered $3.30 per share to acquire it in November 2012 (see IBO 11/30/12). The company rejected the offer, and Illumina withdrew its bid in January (see IBO 1/31/13).

Shenzhen, China, 3/15/13; Shenzhen, China, 3/12/13; Mountain View, CA, 3/12/13—BGI-Shenzhen’s wholly owned subsidiary Beta Acquisition Corporation has completed its all-cash tender offer for sequencing service provider Complete Genomics. BGI will purchase all outstanding shares of Complete Genomics common stock for $3.15 per share in cash without interest. Complete Genomics will become a wholly owned subsidiary of BGI without a meeting of shareholders of Complete Genomics stock.
