Anton Paar GmbH announced that it will not participate in Pittcon 2010, but will take part in Analytica next year and Pittcon in 2011.
Teledyne Tekmar partnered with FernCreek Technologies in June for distribution in the Pacific Northwest region of the US.
Halma Health and Analysis’s sales for fiscal 2009 ended March 31 grew 22.6%, 10% organically, to £165.1 million ($300.2 million) to make up 36% of company revenues. Segment operating profit increased 3.2% to £28.7 million ($52.7 million) (see IBO 6/30/09). Health Optics and Other revenue grew 23%, Photonics sales grew 23%, Fluid Technology revenue was up 19% and Water sales grew 5%. Photonics and Water recorded declines in operating profit. US, Mainland Europe, and Rest of World/Asia revenues rose 20%, 36% and 60%, respectively. UK revenue fell 17%. Restructuring is expected to result in increased profitability in fiscal 2010.
Crain’s Manchester Business reported in June that Waters is planning to open a new center for excellence for MS in Manchester, UK, by 2013.
Waters appointed Dr. Mark Burns as senior director of Clinical Business Operations in July. He was previously director of Business Development for Abbott Diagnostics.

In July, PerkinElmer announced plans to open a Bio-Pharma Center of Excellence in Hyderabad in October. PerkinElmer India employs approximately 170 people.
Life Technologies announced in July that 1,400 Applied Biosystems products are now available through Invitrogen channels.
GE announced that Life Sciences orders rose 4% in the second quarter.
Sartorius AG reported first-half sales fell 2.5% to €296.5 million ($395.3 million), down 5.6% in constant currency. Adjusted EBITA declined from €27.0 million to €24.7 million ($32.9 million). Biotechnology sales rose 7.4%, 4.3% in constant currency, to €197.8 million ($263.7 million). Mechatronics sales fell 17.7% to €98.7 million ($131.6 million), down 20.9% in constant currency (see IBO 8/31/09). For 2009, the company forecasts Biotechnology sales to increase and Mechatronics sales to decline in double digits.
Half-year revenue for Roche Applied Science rose 8% to CHF 403 million ($356.6 million) to make up 8% of company sales. Second-quarter sales grew 11%, up from 6% growth in the first quarter. Half-year Array sales rose 48% and Sequencing sales increased 24%, but Research sales fell 3% and Industrial sales declined 7%. North America, EMEA and Rest of World sales grew 3%, 10% and 16%, respectively, in local currencies.
