Chelmsford, MA 7/23/13—Brooks Automation has agreed to acquire the assets and business of Matrical for $10 million in cash. Matrical provides biological sample preparation, management and storage solutions for agbio, biotechnology, life science tools and pharmaceutical markets. “We are enthusiastic about welcoming the founders and employees of Matrical to Brooks and foresee them making a significant contribution to the development of new solutions that further the growth of our Life Sciences business,” stated Jeffrey Farmer, vice president and general manager, Brooks Life Science Systems. “In particular, we are excited about the product offerings and market position in Agbio that will significantly expand our penetration in this market segment.” The acquisition is expected to close within two weeks.
