Bruker Acquires Producer of Remote Gas-Sensing Systems
Bruker’s current offerings for remote sensing include the EM27 Open Path Spectrometer for the FT-IR detection of atmospheric compounds. Sigma ElectroOptics is developing novel hyper-spectral IR-imaging products. The company has had an OEM relationship with Bruker.
Ettlingen, Germany 12/21/10—Bruker has acquired Sigma ElectroOptics GmbH, a developer and producer of remote gas-sensing systems based on dispersive and FT-IR spectroscopy. The company’s 2010 revenues are expected to be €1 million ($1.3 million). “With the additional Sigma high-performance products, and the acquired intellectual property and applications know-how, Bruker is planning to become an even stronger player in industrial and homeland security infrared gas analysis,” commented Bruker Optics President Urban Faeh. Bruker stated that the acquisition would expand its IR remote-sensing business and complement its RAPID line of mil-spec FT-IR remote-sensing systems for defense applications.
