Bruker Announces Second Acquisition This Year

Billerica, MA 4/17/18—Scientific instrumentation firm Bruker has acquired California-based Anasys Instruments, a provider of photothermal IR spectroscopy solutions. Financial details were not disclosed. Anasys’ nanoIR products are used in soft matter and hard matter materials science, as well as in life science applications. “We are very excited to add this strategic, highgrowth area to our portfolio of nanoscale microscopy and spectroscopy measurement products,” stated Dr. Mark R. Munch, president of the Bruker NANO Group.

Bruker currently offers products for IR spectroscopy at the macro and micro scales, with Anasys now adding nanoscale analysis. The underlying technology of Anasys is related to Bruker’s other AFM and related products. Anasys also provides thermal analysis at the nanoscale, which is an entirely new area for Bruker, but is adjacent to their nanotools for tribology, indentation and mechanical testing.
