Miltenyi Biotec opened its first office in the Nordic and Baltic region in January in the city of Lund, Sweden, replacing the company’s distributor.

Miltenyi Biotec partnered with Tree Star in January to distribute and support FlowJo 10 flow cytometry software in Europe, including Turkey and Israel.

Miltenyi Biotech opened an office in South Korea in June, enlarging its Asia-Pacific presence to six locations.

In April, ViroCyt completed a second close of growth capital financing, with a total of $5 million raised.

Cellectricon named Novel Science a Japanese distributor for its Dynaflow line and Nepa Gene a Japanese distributor for its Cellaxess ACE system and module.

Product Introductions

In April, Seahorse Bioscience introduced the XF Plasma Membrane Permeabilizer reagent for its XF Extracellular Flux Analyzer. It enables the measurement of biochemisty and mechanisms of mitochondrial dysfunction without the need for mitochondrial isolation or detergent-based permeabilization methods. It was developed in partnership with the Pioneer Valley Life Sciences Institute.

Molecular Devices launched in May the next generation Axon Digidata 1550 Low-Noise Data Acquisition System for electrophysiology research. It enables the parallel patching of up to eight cells simultaneously and a higher sampling rate.

In May, Logos Biosystems introduced the Luna-FL automated cell counter, featuring integrated dual fluorescence and brightfield optics.

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced Thermo Scientific HCS Studio Software, a suite of high-content imaging and analysis applications, featuring enhanced usability and an integrated, automated plate handling capability.

In June, ViroCyt launched the Virus Counter Reagent Kit 200 for use with the Virus Counter 2100. It allows up to 200 samples to be run.

Olympus released the cellVivo incubation system for environmental control of advanced live cell imaging.

In June, BD Biosciences launched the compact LSRFortessa X-20 Cell Analyzer flow cytometer, which supports up to five lasers to detect up to 20 parameters.
