Company Announcements

In June, Genedata announced an alliance with IntelliCyt to integrate their respective Genedata Screener software and iQue Screener systems.

In August, IntelliCyt named SpectraGenetics as the latest TAP awardee and partner. The TAP program collaborates with scientists and commercial partners to advance cell- and bead-based assays.

Biolin Scientific named Thais T. Johansen as vice president of its Drug Discovery business unit in June. He was previously CEO of AdvanDx.

As part of new collaborations with research institutions and health care firms, Johnson & Johnson Innovation announced that Janssen Biotech will evaluate HiFiBiO’s single-cell technology for genetically characterizing individual cells as a new antibody discovery platform.

FlowJo and BD Life Sciences integrated their respective data analysis platform and flow cytometry data acquisition software for the research market.

In June, Yokogawa acquired Chip-Man Technologies’ label-free image analysis technology for live-cell analysis.

In July, Medtech Ventures announced the formation of CellectCell, which exclusively licensed technology from Georgia Tech Research for uSHEAR, a adhesive signature–based stem cell selection and isolation technology.

QIAGEN announced in July that it gained exclusive rights to commercialized Cell Microsystems’ CellRaft Array technology for label-free isolation and analysis of single cells using images taken by a conventional microscope.

In August, Thrive Bioscience closed a $4.0 million round of seed financing to commercialize its solutions that increase the speed, quality and cost-effectiveness of cell culture being used in growing stem cells, drug discovery and basic research.

Product Introductions

Ovizio Imaging System launched in June the iLine F, an in-line suspension cell monitoring microscope for monitoring cell viability and cell density in real time. It utilizes a quantitative imaging technique based on differential digital holographic microscopy.

Fluidigm introduced the Callisto system, a microfluidic cell culture system that integrates multifactorial dosing in 32 individual chambers for simultaneous cell culture, enabling the design, optimization and execution of complex cell culture protocols.

Fluidigm launched the Helios CyTOF, its latest mass cytometry system, featuring improved sensitivity and software enhancements. It also released a barcoding reagent kit for barcoding up to 20 samples for multiplexing, increasing throughput.

In August, Sony launched the SA3800 spectral cell analyzer, featuring a new autosampler with a stationary sample suction probe and a well plate that moves in three dimensions.
