Miltenyi Biotec opened an office in South Korea in June, enlarging its presence to six locations in five countries.

IntelliCyt opened an office in Los Altos, California, in July.

Bulldog Bio is now a North American distributor of Fluxion Biosciences’ products.

In August, ViroCyt named Biotech Europe a distributor for the Commonwealth of Independent States and CESCO Bioengineering as a Taiwanese distributor.

In September, NanoString Technologies and BD Biosciences announced a collaboration agreement for the development of a single-cell isolation and analysis workflow, consisting of their respective nCounter Analysis System and BD Flow Cytometry cell sorter product line.

Product Introductions

In July, IntelliCyt announced that its iQue Screener obtained the CE mark.

Molecular Devices launched in July the IonWorks Barracuda Plus System, featuring enhancements that widen the assay time window for ion channel assays.

In September, Molecular Devices introduced the ImageXpress Micro XLS System, a single wide-field integrated system with unlimited hardware and software configurations, featuring enhanced speed and flexibility.

Life Technologies released in July the EVOS FL Auto Imaging System with on-stage incubator for time-lapse, high resolution live cell imaging.

PerkinElmer introduced enhancements for its Operetta High Content Imaging System, including brightfield imaging, environmental chamber options, and a transmitted light digital phase-contrast mode that enables imaging and segmentation of live cells without fluorescent dyes.

In August, Dainippon Screen launched the Cell3iMager, a high speed scanner capable of measuring and analyzing multiplication and morphology changes in cancer cells grown in 3D cell culture plates without using a reagent.

Stratedigm introduced the S1000EXi flow cytometer, enabling the detection of up to 18 colors with four lasers. It is available as an upgrade for all S1000 instruments.

In September, Nanion Technologies introduced the CardioExcyte 96 for cardiac toxicity profiling and screening. It enables impedance-based, label-free measurements of short- and long-term compound effects on the beating patterns of stem cell–derived cardiomyocytes.

Nanion Technologies launched the modular SyncroPatch 384PE (Patch Engine). Designed for integration into process-automated drug screening environments, it is equipped with 384 patch clamp amplifiers and a 384-channel liquid handling robot.

In October, Fluxion introduced the BioFlux Quattro High Throughput Array System, which runs up to four BioFlux plates at the same time. It is sold as a component to expand the capabilities of BioFlux systems.
