Fluxion Biosciences added DI Biotech as a Korean distributor for the BioFlux, and Novel Science as a distributor for Japan for the BioFlux and IonFlux.

Beckman Coulter entered into a five-year agreement in December 2009 to distribute CompuCyte’s laser-scanning cytometers. The agreement is exclusive outside of North America.

Cyntellect named four new exclusive distributors: Cold Spring Biotech for China and Taiwan; Pharmatech for South Korea; and Research Instruments for Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

In January, Sartorius AG and Corning announced a comarketing and branding collaboration for cell culture products.

Accuri Cytometers named Jeffrey S. Williams, former president and CEO of HandyLab, as CEO in January. The company has 80 employees and more than tripled its sales last year to over $10 million.

Beckman Coulter released the Kaluza Flow Cytometry Analysis Software, which allows the visualization of high-content data in different spatial dimensions on a single plot.

Roche Applied Science released the CIM-Plate 16 for its xCELLigence System for real-time analysis of cell migration.

CompuCyte introduced four-laser versions of the iCyte, iCys and iColor imaging cytometers.

Nexcelom Bioscience launched the Cellometer Auto X4 cell counter that can detect and quantify cells in fluorescence-imaging mode as well as in brightfield mode.

The Automation Partnership released Chip-Man Technololgies’ Cell-IQ live-cell observation and analysis system in the US and Canada.

InDevR introduced the Virus Counter, a compact flow cytometer for rapid virus quantification.

Fluxion Bioscience introduced the fully automated IonFlux ion channel–screening platform, featuring a Tecan Freedom EVO liquid handler.

ChemoMetec A/S released the NucleoCounter NC-3000 fluorescence microscope, which features an analysis time of 15–60 seconds for 1 µm of sample.

TTP LabTech launched a contract screening service based on its Acumen microplate cytometer.

Union Biometrica released the BioSorter flow cytometer, featuring interchangeable flow cells for handling the 10–1,500 µm range.

In February, BD Bioscience launched the BD FACSAria III Cell Sorting System, featuring up to six lasers and a backwards-compatible architecture.

Eppendorf AG released, outside of North America, the Eporator for electroporation of bacteria and yeast.
