The World Health Organization estimates that the swine flu has claimed 6,250 lives. The Americas shows the highest rate of death with 4,512 people having died from the virus. In the US alone, new estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention put the total number of fatalities at 3,900. The spread of the disease appears to be slowing in North America, but accelerating in Europe as well as Central and Eastern Asia. In the Ukraine, 1.3 million people have been diagnosed since the end of October. In total, 206 countries and territories have been affected. The World Health Organization reports that the virus appears not to be getting stronger.
