Companies to Bid for Canberra

Canberra’s lab offerings include radioactivity measurement systems, such as alpha/beta counters. Areva’s planned sale of Canberra to Astorg Partners in 2013 fell through (see IBO 7/15/13).

Paris, France 12/3/15; Paris, France 12/17/15—Reuters reported earlier this month that bidding for Areva’s Canberra business, which provides radiological detection systems for security, health and research applications, will begin early next year, quoting an anonymous source. Companies that intend to bid include Mirion Technologies, Apax Partners, 3i and Triton. Areva announced on December 17 that firm offers will be submitted by year end in preparation for a sale next year. Canberra recorded 2014 sales of €180 million ($240 million = €0.75 = $1).
