Consolidation in Tablet Testing Market
Pharmatron has 30 employees, according to a SOTAX spokesperson. SOTAX told IBO that although some of the companies’ product lines overlap in terms of functionality, such as dissolution testers, Pharmatron’s products are more focused on use in pharmaceutical production and SOTAX’s products are more focused on laboratory use.
Allschwil, Switzerland 6/13—SOTAX, a provider of dissolution testing, automated sample preparation and physical testing equipment, has acquired Dr. Schleuniger Pharmatron. Financial details were not disclosed. Headquartered in Thun, Switzerland, Pharmatron engineers and manufactures equipment for the physical testing of pharmaceutical dosage forms. “The acquisition and integration of Dr. Schleuniger Pharmatron is a further step towards ensuring sustainable growth by strengthening our innovation leadership,” said SOTAX CEO Thomas Pfammatter. Pharmatron’s Thun facility will become the hub of SOTAX’s physical testing business, and its US subsidiary will be integrated into SOTAX’s US operations.
