Corning Grows Reagent and Cell Culture Product Lines

Mediatech’s products include culture media, basal salt solutions, antibiotics, sera, specialty media and flexible packaging systems. Its KD Medical subsidiary provides custom bacterial growth media plates and other cell culture products. Mediatech Co-founder James DeOlden will serve as an advisor during the transition.

Corning, NY 12/1/11—Corning has acquired Mediatech, including its KD Medical subsidiary, for an undisclosed amount. Mediatech develops, manufactures and sells cell culture media and molecular biology reagents related to tissue and cell culture applications, including products under the cellgro brand. “By providing customers worldwide with greater access to Mediatech’s cellgro product portfolio, this acquisition supports Corning’s ongoing commitment to supply its customers with a comprehensive line of laboratory research tools,” commented Corning Life Sciences General Manager Richard Eglen. Jason Walsh, director of New Platforms for Corning Life Sciences, will become general manager of Mediatech.
