Dako Flow Cytometry Business Sold to Beckman Coulter

The acquisition represents further consolidation in a market that already is already dominated by Beckman Coulter and BD Biosciences. Dako’s divestment of the product line follows the recent changes in its management and business model, allowing it to focus on anatomic pathology and tissue-based cancer diagnostics.

Fullerton, CA and Glostrup, Denmark 11/19/07—Beckman Coulter has agreed to acquire Dako Denmark A/S’s flow cytometry instrumentation business for an undisclosed sum. Based in Fort Collins, Colorado, with a staff of more than 200, the business includes the MoFlox XDP cell sorter and the nine-color CyAn research flow cytometer. “We are enthusiastic about the opportunity to add Dako’s MoFlo XDP high-performance sorter, the gold standard for cell sorting, and the highly capable nine-color CyAn research flow cytometer to our existing portfolio of cytometry instruments,” stated Scott Garrett, Beckman Coulter president and CEO. The transaction is expected to close by year end.
