Danaher Expands Life Science Business in India

According to Labindia’s website, the MS deal was initially announced to customers in September. Last year, Life Technologies acquired assets from Labindia related to the distribution of its products (see IBO 11/15/10). According to a September investor presentation, Danaher’s Life Sciences & Diagnostics unit accounted for 28% of Danaher’s 2010 Indian revenues, or more than $40 million.

Wetzler, Germany and Delhi, India 11/14/11; Delhi, India 11/14/11—Leica Microsystems and AB SCIEX, two Danaher Life Sciences businesses, have announced acquisitions from Labindia Instruments, the companies’ Indian distributor. AB SCIEX has acquired Labindia Instruments’ MS business, including customer relationships, personnel and application support facilities. Labindia has distributed AB SCIEX’s MS systems in India for 15 years. “By integrating Indian sales, service and support functions into AB SCIEX’s global resources and operational excellence, we will simplify the process for customers to do business with AB SCIEX and drive the highest standard of support, further enhancing customer satisfaction levels,” stated Umesh Pawa, managing director of AB SCIEX India. Leica Microsystems has acquired the microscopy and histopathology divisions of Labindia Instruments, which includes over 130 associates. Labindia has distributed Leica Microsystems’ products in India for more than 20 years. “Leica Microsystems’ expansion of its commercial operations in India creates extended opportunities for interaction, collaboration and innovation to benefit all of our customers in the life sciences, industrial laboratories and hospitals for both diagnostics and surgery,” commented Leica Microsystems President Arnd Kaldowski.
