Dionex Names New CEO
Dr. Witney brings knowledge of the life science research market to Dionex, as well as industry experience. Panomics is a supplier of life science consumables. He also served as president of Drug Discovery Tools for PerkinElmer, following its acquisition of laboratory automation firm Packard Biosciences, where he was president and COO (see IBO 11/15/01). He has also held positions at Bio-Rad Laboratories. Dr. Witney holds a doctorate in molecular and cell biology from Indiana University.
Sunnyvale, CA 4/14/09—Dionex has named Dr. Frank Witney president, CEO and a member of the Board of Directors effective April 30. He replaces Dr. Lukas Braunschweiler, who announced earlier this year that he was leaving the company to take a position at Ruag Holding AG (see IBO 12/15/08). Most recently, Dr. Witney served as executive vice president and COO of Affymetrix. He joined Affymetrix from Panomics where he served as president and CEO following Affymetrix’s acquisition of Panomics last year (see IBO 11/15/08). “Frank brings a unique combination of successful operational experience, scientific depth and insight, industry-specific market knowledge, and a wealth of international experience to Dionex,” stated Riccardo Pigliucci, lead director of Dionex.
