Company Announcements

In April, Halma acquired Sensorex, a manufacturer of electrochemical sensors for water analysis, for $37.5 million. Existing management remained with the company. In 2011, Sensorex recorded an operating profit of $3.9 million.

In-Situ announced in May that its RDO methods are the only optical or luminescence-based dissolved oxygen (DO) methods to pass the EPA’s Alternate Test Procedure program for measuring biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), carbonaceous BOD and DO.

In June, Hanna Instruments named Bartelt Gesellschaft as its exclusive distributor for Austria and Diamed Enterprise as its exclusive distributor for the Philippines.

Product Introductions

HORIBA launched the LAQUA family of lab water quality analyzers, consisting of the F-70 Series and, for conductivity measurements, the DS-70 Series. The family includes single- or dual-channel meters that can measure the most commonly used parameters in electrochemistry and up to six parameters simultaneously. The company also introduced new ToupH electrodes, featuring enhanced stability.

In March, Endress+Hauser Conducta introduced Memobase Plus, a software and database that integrates multiple methods of measurement and multiple measuring points with centralized control and data recording in a lab PC application. It allows the simultaneous measurement and calibration of up to four sensors.

Mettler-Toledo launched the FiveEasy Plus series of entry-level benchtop meters, consisting of the pH FEP20 meter, the Conductivity FEP30 meter and the pH Sensor LE408 with refillable, liquid electrolyte.

Hanna Instruments released the HI 9829 Portable GPS Multiparameter Meter.

In May, Hanna Instruments launched redesigned benchtop meters for pH, electrical conductivity and resistivity, featuring improved usability, space saving and a uniform appearance.
