East Grinstead, UK 6/27/13—Publicly listed UK scientific instrument firm Judges Scientific has acquired Scientifica for £12.0 million ($18.6 million = £0.65 = $1) in cash and a maximum earn out of £1 million ($2 million). Scientifica designs, manufactures and sells systems for electrophysiology research, including micromanipulators, optical microscopes and associated mounting solutions. The company also distributes complementary products, including imaging systems. Scientifica had fiscal 2013 sales ending March 31 of £9.2 million ($14.6 million = £0.63 = $1) and pre-tax profits of £2.2 million ($3.5 million). “The purchase of Scientifica represents the largest acquisition made by Judges Scientific and its impact on the group’s financial performance should be significant,” stated Judges Chairman Alex Hambro. Cofounder Mark Johnson will remain with the company as managing director.
