EU Review of Agilent-Varian Extended

Brussels, Belgium 12/22/09—Dow Jones has reported that the European Commission (EC) extended the deadline for its antitrust review of Agilent’s acquisition of Varian (see IBO 7/31/09) by 10 working days to January 20. By that date, the EC will either clear the acquisition or launch an investigation. The extension was due to “commitments” by Agilent that could include divestments, according to Dow Jones.
