Flow Cytometry Company Sold

According to Sysmex, Partec has a strong presence in developing countries, where flow cytometry is used for HIV monitoring and the diagnostics of malaria and other infectious diseases. Partec also provides gel electrophoresis and fluorescence microscopy systems.

Kobe, Japan 9/24/13—Diagnostics firm Sysmex has acquired Partec, a German provider of flow cytometers for research and diagnostic applications, for an undisclosed amount. Sysmex plans to leverage its sales and support network to increase Partec sales, as well as combine flow cytometry with its hematology offerings. In fiscal 2012, Partec had sales of €20.1 million ($26 million = €0.78 = $1) and EBIT of €2.7 million ($3.5 million). Sysmex also announced the purchase of Inostics, a developer of digital PCR technology for detecting circulating tumor DNA.
