Flow Cytometry Firm Accuri Cytometers Acquired
Accuri had 2010 revenues of nearly $20 million and has 85 employees, according to AnnArbor.com. According to Accuri’s website, pricing for its flow cytometers starts at $49,000. In May 2010, the company announced the sale of its 500th C6 system (see IBO 6/15/10).
Franklin Lakes, NJ 2/7/11—Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) has agreed to acquire Accuri Cytometers, a provider of personal flow cytometers for research applications. Financial details were unavailable. BD stated that the acquisition would allow it to expand into the affordable personal flow cytometer market, which includes users in developing regions and researchers in scientific disciplines, such as environmental studies, where flow cytometry has not been traditionally used. The transaction is expected to close by June.
