South San Francisco, CA 10/19/16—Fluidigm has appointed President and COO S. Christopher Linthwaite as CEO and a Board member, effective immediately. He succeeds Gajus V. Worthington, who also resigned from the Board. “The opportunity ahead for Fluidigm is immense, and realizing it will require continued focus on customer-centric innovation combined with a commitment to operational excellence,” said Mr. Linthwaite. “A key part of my role as CEO will be to achieve sustainable growth while delivering high quality, innovative solutions to our customers.”

Mr. Linthwaite joined Fluidigm as COO in August of this year. Prior to joining Fluidigm, he served as president of the Genetic Sciences Division at Thermo Fisher Scientific, joining the company when Thermo Fisher acquired Life Technologies (see IBO 4/15/13). Fluidigm’s financial results have missed company guidance in recent quarters (see IBO 10/15/16).
