Inficon’s 2008 Emergency Response & Security sales rose 58.5% to $27.9 million to make up 11% of company revenues.
Inficon’s first-half Emergency Response & Security revenue declined 49.0% to $7.4 million due in part to delayed shipments. Lower European and military sales were partially offset by an increase in environmental sales in Asia.
NLISIS Chromatography partnered with DSM Resolve, a service unit of Royal DSM NV, for R&D.
GOW-MAC opened a customer support office in Beijing, China, in April.
Alpha MOS announced that nine-month revenues ended June 30 rose 8.4% to €4.2 million ($5.6 million) (see page 12). Asian sales rose 77%, led by Japan. The Périchrom acquisition (see IBO 12/15/08) contributed €623,000 ($827,000) in revenues. The company expects sales to grow 10%–15% for the fiscal year.
In August, SEER Technology, which provides the AccuSense Chemical Recognition System, announced a funding partnership with Global Security Capital Group.
Product Introductions
LECO released the LECO/Fiehn Metabolite Mass Spectral Library for metabolite identification, featuring over 1,100 spectra and 700 unique metabolites.
Varian introduced the 225-MS benchtop ion trap GC/MS in June, which encloses all of its components, including the foreline vacuum pump. It is intended for use in high-throughput labs.
Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the Pesticide Analyzer Reference package, which provides information on extraction and consumables, and assists users in method development.
Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the Thermo Scientific GLD PRO Leak Detector, a handheld electronic device for use with GC systems and their accessories. It employs dual thermistor technology.
Shimadzu Japan launched the GC-2010 Plus high-performance capillary GC in July, featuring a four-fold improvement in flame photometric detector sensitivity and a faster oven-cooling time.
Phenomenex released the Zebron Inferno ZB-XLB-HT and XB-35HT mid-polarity columns, stating they are the first mid-polarity columns that can withstand temperatures up to 400° C.
In September, Agilent introduced the Semi-Volatile Organic Compound Analyzer (SVoC), a complete, prefigured tool for detecting and measuring SVoC in water and soil samples. It is based on the Agilent 5975C GC/MS.
Vernier introduced the compact Vernier Mini GC, featuring Seacoast Science’s MEMS Chemi-Capacitive Detector, which allows room air to be used as a carrier gas. It is priced starting at $1,749.
