Product Introductions

Shimadzu introduced the HS-20 Series of headspace samplers for analyzing volatile compounds in a difficult matrix. It consists of the Loop model for static headspace methods and the Trap model for applications requiring greater sensitivity. They feature 90-vial trays that accommodates both 10 mL and 20 mL vials within the same sequence without the need for special attachments.

Shimadzu launched the LabSolutions simulated distillation GC software for use with the GC-2010 Plus–based simulated distillation GC.

CDS Analytical released the CDS-7400 soil/water purge and trap autosampler, featuring a 72 position autosampler with three removable trays of 24 vials and automated water addition of 5 mLs for soil samples.

Phenomenex launched in January the Zebron ZB-SemiVolatiles columns, which can separate 135 compounds in under 14 minutes.

In February, Agilent introduced the 7890B GC, featuring improved performance specifications, lower operating costs and a faster version of the OpenLAB chromatography data system. Agilent also introduced the 5977A Series mass selective detector, featuring a redesigned inert MS ion source.

LECO introduced the HR-CI chemical ionization source for its Pegasus GC-HRS high resolution TOF MS for the confirmation of molecular ions.

In March, Thermo Fisher Scientific released the Thermo Scientific TriPlus 300 valve-and-loop headspace autosampler, featuring a 120-vial sample tray and 18-vial incubation capacity.

HTA introduced the HT2000H for standard productivity, with 42 sample position capacity and plug-in ability, and the HT2100H for entry-level labs with 14 sample positions and no need for a carrier gas.

Frontier Laboratories released the Rx-3050TR multimode Tandem micro-Reactor platform, which interfaces with a GC/MS, for catalyst testing. Frontier Labs systems are sold and serviced in North America by Quantum Analytics and Shimadzu Scientific Instruments.

INFICON launched the Micro GC Fusion, a temperature programmable Micro GC that offers fast temperature ramping using capillary columns, which covers C12+ gas phase analysis. The MEMS thermal conductivity detector offers a 1 ppm detection limit. The modular design consist of each module containing an injector, a temperature programmable capillary column and a detector.

Torion introduced the Fusion-3 sample preparation station for use with its portable GC/MS systems, which enables volatile organic compound–sampling techniques.
