In August, INFICON announced that second quarter Security & Energy sales rose 90.2% to $7.8 million, or 10% of company revenues.
VUV Analytics announced in August the closing of a $6.5 million Series B equity financing, led by new investor New Science Ventures. In 2014–15, the company raised $7 million in Series A equity and $2 million of debt.
Under a strategic alliance announced in September, Ellutia Chromatography Solutions will distribute Prism Analytical Technologies’ MAX analyzer for absorption spectroscopy in Europe for combining GC with an FTIR gas analyzer. Using MAX, eluting gases are statically analyzed in a multi-pass gas cell for increased sensitivity. Detection limits are in the ppt range or lower.
AFP, a supplier of chromatographic components, announced this month the appointment of André Lamontagne as COO. He previously served as Market Segment manager at Servomex.
Product Introductions
In July, Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the Thermo Scientific Exactive GC Orbitrap GC-MS system for targeted and nontargeted analysis and quantitation for routine applications. Also released was the Thermo Scientific Orbitrap GC-MS Contaminants Library with more than 700 compounds for food and environmental analysis.
Agilent Technologies in July released two new models of the 7000 Series Triple Quadrupole GC/MS systems, the 7000D and 7010B, both of which allow single-click access to Agilent single quadrupole GC/MS methods.
In August, Agilent Technologies launched the Intuvo 9000 GC, with ease-of-use features such as click-and-run connections, trim-free columns and self-configuration of methods. Designed for high-throughput contract labs, it is half the size of a conventional GC, uses a microfluidic flow chip and features seamless method migration.
In August, LECO launched the Pegasus BT GC TOF-MS, featuring simplified quantitation and increased sensitivity.
Falcon Analytical introduced in August a mobile version of the CALIDUS Ultrafast GC for vehicles fitted with at least a 250 AMP alternator.
In August, Shimadzu released the Quick-DB GC/MS/MS forensic toxicological database for triple quadrupole GC/MS. It includes information for analyzing the 68 toxicological substances often involved in drug poisoning cases in Japan. It provides a total solution for trace analysis of toxicological substances contained in blood.
Also in August, Shimadzu introduced the GCMS-TQ8050 triple quadrupole GC/MS, a new top-of-the-line system, featuring femtogram-level quantitative analysis for ultra-trace analysis.
In September, Phenomenex launched the Zebron PLUS family of GC inlet liners, featuring new simplified installation. The company also released the online GC Liner Finder.
In October, INFICON introduced the Micro GC Fusion 4-Module system for gas analysis on site or in labs. It joins the 2-Module model.
