The Federal Ministry of Education and Research, German Cancer Aid and the German Cancer Research Center will establish the National Consortium for Translational Cancer Research. The German Cancer Research Center will serve as the main site and will work with partners at university hospitals nationwide. A maximum of six sites will be chosen by early next year. The Consortium will receive €400 million ($554 million) over a 10-year period. The German government also announced that the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and German Cancer Aid will participate in the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC). The organizations will jointly contribute €15 million over five years. The ICGC is scheduled to start work in the fall.
