Rapidus news service reported in September that Ludesi AB, the provider of Redfin software for two-dimensional gel image analysis, went bankrupt. The largest shareholder was Innovation Capital.

Integromics appointed Dr. Michael J. McManus as president and CEO in September. Previously, he led GenomeQuest’s corporate marketing, strategic alliances, product marketing and product development efforts.

Oracle formed the Oracle Health Sciences Institute in partnership with Sun Labs to focus on research to accelerate information-technology innovation to advance personalized medicine and the delivery of safe and effective treatments and health care services. Research priorities include genomic, genetic and phenotypic data analysis.

In October, Strand Life Sciences launched Strand Scientific Intelligence, its US-based subsidiary located in the San Francisco Bay area.

Agilent announced in October a multiyear agreement with Strand Scientific Intelligence to expand the scope of its GeneSpring bioinformatics system across multiple life science disciplines. This includes a version of GeneSpring designed to help users perform statistical analysis of and visualize data from genomics, metabolomics and proteomics together, using a familiar interface. The agreement also includes development of a fully integrated portal for licensing, upgrading and supporting the GeneSpring family. The companies have worked together since 2007.

Thermo Fisher Scientific announced that EM2 Solutions will provide services and support for the full range of Thermo Scientific Informatics solutions that serve the environmental testing industry and will inform and support product development.

LabVantage launched the LabVantage Innovation Center, an open source community for SAPPHIRE and SQL*LIMS customers.

Genedata launched the Expressionist Refiner Genome module, a data processing and analysis application for next-generation sequencing and genomic profiling.

GeneGo integrated Omicsoft’s Array Studio statistics analysis and visualization software for next-generation sequencing with its MetaCore data mining suite.

GeneGo integrated GenomeQuest’s Sequence Data Management platform with its MetaCore and MetaDrug software.

GoInformatics introduced golims, a web-based LIMS for small to medium-sized businesses.

In October, Strand Scientific Intelligence released Avadis NGS, a software application for next-generation sequencing analysis that is focused on ChiP-SEQ, RNA-SEQ and genetic variation analysis. The software is licensed online by Strand and can be licensed from Agilent’s life sciences sales force.
