Certara announced in October that it will be the exclusive provider of Chemotargets’ software for predicting the off-target pharmacology of small molecules through the creation of customized ligand-based target models.
In October, Accelrys agreed to market and sell SCYNEXIS’s Hit Explorer Operating System, a software-as-a-service workspace that supports real-time data sharing across multiple organizations.
Accelrys announced in October a strategic collaboration with The Edge Software Consultancy to offer new software solutions: BioRails DM Suite for general assay and study data management; BioRails PTO for project tracking and optimization of experiments in BioRails; and Morphit for capturing, analyzing and modeling biological study data. The companies will also integrate Morphit and BioRails components with Symyx Notebook.
In October, Golden Helix and Expression Analysis announced a collaboration to develop an affordable and streamlined, cloud-based analytic solution for RNA sequencing. Primary and secondary analyses will be stored and managed, and Golden Helix will provide differential expression workflows for tertiary analysis. Golden Helix will also provide a desktop-based genome browser.
In October, DNAnexus secured $15 million in second-round financing, led by Google Ventures and TPG Biotech. The company also announced a technology collaboration to provide access to the National Center for Biotechnology Information through a hosted Sequence Read Archive site utilizing Google’s cloud infrastructure.
GenoLogics announced in October an $8 million round of strategic financing led by new investor Illumina. Illumina Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Tristan Orpin joined the company’s Board.
Product Introductions
In September, Media Cybernetics released AutoQuant X3 image deconvolution and 5D visualization software, featuring a new auto-detection algorithm for identifying sample dimensions.
In September, PerkinElmer launched E-Notebook 13, which is focused on biology. It features a Vaccine Studies module and a ribbon-based user interface.
Prognosys introduced Voila!, a cloud-based data analysis service for next-generation sequencing data, which is available initially for RNA sequencing projects that utilize data from Illumina HiSeq and GAIIx sequencers.
In October, Accelrys launched its new Cheminformatics Suite for registering, searching, mining and analyzing information on chemical structures and reactions, chemically modified sequences and associated data. It features the new web-based Chemical Registration 3.0, the Direct 8.0 data cartridge and HEOS by SCYNEXIS.
Thermo Fisher Scientific released the Thermo Scientific Water and Environmental LIMS, a preconfigured LIMS for complying with US environmental regulations.
