In September, Qlucore named Commmugene as a distributor for South Korea.

Vista Equity Partners agreed in September to acquire TIBCO Software for $24 per share, or $4.3 billion including the assumption of net debt. The acquisition was completed this month. TIBCO provides Spotfire software, which is exclusively licensed to PerkinElmer (see IBO 12/15/13) for certain research markets.

IFI CLAIMS Patent Services announced a collaboration to deliver IFI patent data on ChemAxon’s ChemCurator software platform (see below).

In October, Dotmatics introduced the Dotmatics Ecosystem Program, which enables third-party organizations to develop and integrate their scientific applications with Dotmatics solutions.

RURO announced in October that its sales volume grew 104% in fiscal 2014, its second consecutive year of sales-volume growth of more than 100%.

Biomax Informatics expanded its US operations in October, opening a US headquarters near Madison, Wisconsin. The company also has offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Product Introductions

Eagle Genomics launched in September the cloud-based Eaglecore bioinformatics platform. It enables data capture of new experiments and legacy data import, allowing all data to be linked together in one place.

Titian Software launched Mosaic 6.0 sample-management software, featuring a new optional Assay Requesting module.

ChemAxon launched ChemCurator, an application to extract chemical information and generate Markush structures from documents.

In October, LifeMap Sciences introduced GeneAnalytics 1.0, a tool for analyzing experimental gene sets of interest and matching them to expression patterns in various cell types, diseases and pathways, and functional groups.

Optibrium released StarDrop 6.0, featuring the new CardView environment for viewing and interacting with compound data in the context of discovery projects.

AgileBio introduced the SNP Manager add-on for its LabCollector LIMS.

Simulations Plus introduced MembranePlus simulation software 1.0 for insight into the results of in vitro permeability experiments.

Sales/Orders of Note

In October, the NCI’s Cancer Genomics Cloud Pilot Initiative awarded a $5.8 million contract to Seven Bridges Genomics, the only commercial organization to participate in the Initiative.
