Instem Acquires Lab Software Firm

Instem stated that the acquisition marked its entry into the in vitro R&D market. Perceptive offerings include the Comet Assay IV video-based system for scoring cells, Ames Study Manager software, Cyto Study Manager software, and image analysis systems software. Fiscal 2013 EBITDA for Perceptive was £0.36 million ($0.58 million). It has customers in over 49 countries.

Conshohocken, PA 11/22/13; London, UK 11/22/13—Instem, a publicly held supplier of IT solutions to the early development health care market, has acquired Perceptive Instruments for £1.0 million ($1.6 million = £0.62 = $1). Perceptive develops, manufactures and supplies image analysis and data processing solutions primarily focused on toxicology, microbiology and immunology. The UK-based firm had fiscal 2013 revenues of £0.8 million ($1.3 million). “Our clients will now have the ability to turn to one global supplier for their data management needs across broader segments, providing them with greater efficiencies,” commented Instem CEO Phil Reason. Instem noted that Perceptive’s solutions will add to its Study Workflow and Automation Suite.
