Gerresheimer’s 2012 Life Science Research sales improved 8.6%, 2.0% organically, to €99.6 million ($128.0 million). Currency added 7.8% to revenue growth, while a divested product line lowered growth by 1.2%.

Product Introductions
AMETEK’s ORTEC Products Group introduced the LDM-1 integrated gamma ray spectrometer for fixed and mobile counting room applications.
In March, Waters Analytical Standards and Reagents product group introduced Quality Control Reference Materials and Certified Containers that are specifically designed for Waters instruments.
Polymer Char launched in April the new CRYSTEX QC instrument. Based on quantitative chemical analysis, it is designed for use in polypropylene manufacturing labs.
Porkka introduced a range of large incubators, chromatography refrigerators and plasma freezers.
Bel-Art Products introduced the Scienceware Culture Temp 37°C Warming Plate, priced at $425, for increasing cell viability for trypsinization during cell passaging.
In May, Mettler-Toledo launched the manual Rainin Pipet-Lite XLS+ and electronic Rainin E4 XLS+ multichannel pipettes, featuring new mechanical designs to eliminate hand strain. They are available in volumes up to 300 µL.
Mettler-Toledo, in collaboration with the British National Measurement Office, released in May a new range of microgram weights with nominal values of 0.05 mg to 0.5 mg. They allow National Measurement Institutes and customers with nanotech applications to use the direct comparison method to verify weight values below 1 mg.
Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the new Thermo Scientific small benchtop centrifuge for clinical and research needs, featuring one-handed sample protection.
As part of a collaboration with BioCision, ATCC introduced in May the alcohol-free CoolCell LX cell cryopreservation container, which is designed to achieve temperature uniformity when cooling, freezing, thawing and handling biomedical samples.
