Product Introductions
Rainin Instruments, a Mettler-Toledo company, introduced the FlipTube microcentrifuge tubes, which can be held, opened and closed with one hand. The tubes are manufactured with a maximum volume of 1.5 mL.
In August, Rainin Instruments launched the E4 XLS line of electronic pipettes, featuring a joystick and 16-bit color screen. The line is available as a single channel, multichannel with 8 or 12 channels, and 6- or 8-channel adjustable spacer in a wide range of volumes.
Thermo Fisher Scientific released the Thermo Scientific Assay Assure sample collection, transport and storage products for sample stability without refrigeration.
Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the Thermo Scientific Revco UxF Series ultra-low temperature freezers, featuring five new capacities with sizes of 421–949 L.
Thermo Fisher Scientific announced in September that its portfolio of Acros Organics Ultra Pure Inorganics products is now 50% larger and features new high-purity inorganic compounds with ultra-low metal contaminants.
Beckman Coulter introduced in July the 18-inch-wide, 1.6 L Allegra X-30 Series Benchtop Centrifuge. Also introduced were the SX 4400 1.6 L swinging-bucket rotor and the S6096 microplate rotor.
In September, Beckman Coulter released the 3 L Allegra X-14 centrifuge, which provides a maximum speed of 10,200 rpm with a fixed-angle rotor. With a swinging-bucket rotor, it achieves a maximum speed of 4,300 rpm.
Parker Hannifin’s Instrumentation Products Division introduced the Parker Gas Blending System for blending or diluting up to five component gases to produce customized gas mixtures for calibration or validation standards.
In August, Mettler-Toledo released the Excellence XA Balances. Designed for academia, the line consists of two analytical balances and six precision balances.
Büchi introduced the Encapsulator B-390 and B-395 Pro systems for the immobilization of enzymes, drugs, flavors and fragrances, vitamins, oils, cells or microbes into a range of polymers and the production of uniform capsules and beads in the range of 0.15–2 mm.
Stirling Ultracold, a division of Global Cooling, introduced the Model SU105U ultra low freezer, which is a 105 L cabinet that delivers stable -86°C storage on less than 200 W of electrical power from an AC or DC power supply.
