In January, Omega Engineering announced that it is now selling lab sample–handling products, such as shakers, rockers, mixers, stirrers and homogenizers.
INTEGRA Biosciences opened a German subsidiary in January.
LGC announced in February an exclusive agreement to distribute CIFGA’s specialist marine biotoxin standards and reference materials.
In March, CEM announced the formation of its Specialty Chemicals Division, which supplies proprietary products that provide an advantage for peptide synthesis. Product offerings include SpheriTide resins (see IBO 6/15/14).
Genevac named LMS Consult as its exclusive German distributor, effective April 1.
Kewaunee Scientific elected Keith M. Gehl to its Board, effective April 29, to replace Ross W. McCanless. Mr. Gehl served as senior vice president, Real Estate and Facilities, of Family Dollar Stores until his retirement in 2013.
Product Introductions
IKA Werke introduced in December 2014 the Trayster overhead shaker and Loopster rotator, both available in basic or digital versions.
In February, Mettler-Toledo introduced the EasySampler for fully automated in-line sampling of chemical reactions, including sampling capture, quench-at-reaction conditions, dilution and dispensing into a vial.
Mettler-Toledo released in March the new comparator balance line, featuring a new version of its calibrator software, MC Link 2.
In February, Eppendorf launched the CryoCube F570, F570h, FC660 and GC660h ultralow-temperature freezers.
Sigma-Aldrich’s Cerillant brand introduced eight new Certified Spiking Solutions of tryptamines for use in quantitative MS-based testing applications.
Analytik Jena launched the CyBi-SELMA semiautomatic electronic pipette, equipped with 96 or 384 parallel working tips with a volume range of 500 nL–1 mL.
Seal Analytical introduced the AQ400 discrete analyzer featuring greater speed and capacity. It is designed specifically for the environmental market.
PerkinElmer launched the Quantulus GCT liquid scintillation counter (LSC) for environmental monitoring and contamination control, and the Tri-Carb family of LSCs for demanding research applications.
In April, Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the Thermo Scientific TSX ultralow-temperature freezer, featuring less power consumption, lower noise and higher efficiency. It features a 600-box sample capacity.
Thermo Fisher Scientific released the Thermo Scientific XBF40D -40 °C blast freezer for rapid cooling during the sample preparation process, prior to freezer storage.
