ATCC agreed in August to distribute a select set of Horizon Discovery’s panels of X-MAN isogenic cell lines to academic and nonprofit customers as part of or in conjunction with its Tumor Cell Panels for non-commercial research.

EMD agreed in August to distribute Plasticell’s single-application osteogenic medium, which is serum free and xeno free, for research applications.

In August, Life Technologies partnered with China’s Sino Biological. Life Technologies will distribute Sino’s recombinant proteins, antibodies and ELISA kits, and the two companies will jointly develop new proteomic products for additional applications, including flow cytometry and imaging.

Enzymatics named Jonathan DiVincenzo president and CEO in September. Previously, he was president of Merck Millipore’s Bioscience Division.

Abcam’s sales for the fiscal year ending June 30, increased 17.5% to £97.8 million ($155.2 million), including £3.2 million ($5.1 million) in revenue from Epitomics (see IBO 3/15/12) and £1.4 million ($2.2 million) in Abcam Bristol revenue (see IBO 9/15/11) (see IBO 9/15/12). Excluding acquisition, revenues grew 11.9%, or 11.5% in constant currency. Adjusted operating profit rose 20.0% to £38.6 million ($61.3 million). In constant currency, continuing sales in the Americas; Europe, Middle East & Africa; Japan; and Asia rose 9.7%, 10.1%, 17.1% and 18.6% to make up 43%, 35%, 12% and 9% of revenues, respectively.

Enzo Biochem elected Dov Perlysky to its Board in September. He is the managing director of private investment firm Nesher.

In September, USBiological agreed to codevelop, manufacture, promote and sell research products and services based on Akrivis Technologies’ Z-TECT technology platform, a nanotechnology-based technique for detecting unusually low levels of protein and molecular targets. The companies are also developing ultrasensitive kits for the oncology, central nervous system, cardiovascular, inflammation and auto-immune therapeutic areas.

GeneTex announced in September an exclusive distribution agreement with VWR North America.

Claremont Biosolutions named three new distributors: Gentaur Molecular Products for Europe, Ohhana Biotech for Taiwan and Omics Biotech for South Korea.

Promega launched the QuantiFluor ssDNA System for the highly sensitive quantitation of single stranded DNA, which enables quantitation of as little as 200 pg per well.

EMD Millipore released Cellvento CHO-100, a non-animal origin, chemically defined medium.

Cisbio Biosassays launched an “epigenetics toolbox” consisting of a selection of conjugates specifically developed for epigenetics studies.
