Life Technologies Buys Animal-Health Business
LSI offers both PCR- and ELISA-based assays for animal-health diagnostics. The acquisition expands Life Technologies’ products for applied markets, further reducing its reliance on academic and government life science spending.
Lissieu, France 3/7/12—Life Technologies has acquired Laboratorie Service International (LSI), a manufacturer of animal-health diagnostics, for an undisclosed amount. “Combining the breadth of complementary solutions in our respective portfolios will benefit customers in Europe,” said Nir Nimrodi, vice president and general manager of Life Technologies Food Safety and Animal Health. “LSI offers first-class diagnostic products that will enhance our market presence, while our global reach will provide new channels for these products.” As a result of the acquisition, Life Technologies now offers diagnostics for pathogens found in ruminants, swine, poultry and equine.
